The Official Rules Marco Polo

As this game is extremely technical the rules play a vital part in the game. Like the traditional game we used to play as children Marco Polo is played in a pool.

GETTING STARTED

-When entering the pool it is proper request permission from the other players.
-Proper entry includes a flip or roll of some sort into the water.
-In each game there is one Marco and a number of Polos.
-The number of Polos can range from 3 to as many as 6.
-In the opening round of the game the first Marco is chosen through a series of underwater rock/paper/scissors.

RULES OF PLAY

-Each round of play consist of 3 sub-rounds.
-Once the Marco is determined each sub-round begins as the Marco announces "Polos Prepare." The Marco then submerses himself completely in the water. When the Marco is ready, he is to jump up out of the water and declare out loud his first "Marco." In response to the first Marco called out the Polos are to raise one fist in the air, jump up and while completing a 360 call out HEEYA! At this point the sub round begins.
-Each sub round ends when the Marco makes contact with a Polo.
-Contact shall be defined as such; anytime the Marco's hand comes in contact with any part of the Polos body (shorts included, this is one reason most experts play in Speedos.)
-Tie always goes to the Marco. No exceptions. Example, a Polo touches the Marco's hand. This is considered a touch every time.
-Contact with the Marco shall result in a 3 point deduction from the individual Polo's points.
-A point shall be defined as any contact made to the Marco, by a Polo, in which the Polo is able to successfully get away from the Marco untouched.
-In the case that a Polo makes contact with the Marco and as a result of that contact the Marco touches him back, the Polo will not get the point and will automatically take the 3 point deduction.
-At the end of 3 sub rounds (or when the Marco has touched a polo 3 times) the player with the lowest score will become the Marco for the next round.
-A player may opt out of being Marco by doing a Nesty Plunge (which will be defined below.)
-If the player elects to be the Marco, the next round begins the same as the first. Once a player is Marco 3 times he is punished by having to do a Nesty Plunge before his third time being Marco.
-Definition of a Nesty Plunge. The player stands on the edge of the pool with his back facing the pool. With his body completely extended and 100% stiff the player falls straight back into the water. A proper Nesty will bring a good amount of pain and will result in a very loud smack and most often a very red back for the player. If the other players feel the Nesty was not done in proper fashion the player will be forced to redo the Nesty untill it has been approved by the other players.
-There is not set amount of rounds. The game is usually played as long as you want!
